Position: Utility Billing Clerk
The Village of Tularosa is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Utility Billing Clerk. This position is responsible for managing utility accounts, processing billing and payments, and providing excellent customer service to residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process monthly utility bills for water, sewer, and other services
- Receive and post payments (cash, check, and electronic payments)
- Balance daily receipts and prepare bank deposits
- Maintain and update customer utility accounts, including service requests, transfers, and disconnections
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding billing, payments, and account issues
- Assist with collection efforts, including delinquent notices and payment arrangements
- Coordinate service orders with utility staff (turn-ons, shut-offs, meter checks)
- Perform data entry, filing, and general clerical duties
- Assist with reports, audits, and record keeping in compliance with applicable regulations
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience in billing, accounting, or clerical work preferred
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to handle cash accurately and maintain confidentiality
- Experience with municipal utility billing systems
- Prior experience working in government or public office setting
- This position operate in an office setting with frequent interaction with the public.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks are essential.
- Salary/Hourly Rate: DOE (Depending on Experience)

Field Utility Worker
Salary/Hourly Rate: DOE (depending on experience)
The Village of Tularosa is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to join our Public Works team as a Field Utility Worker. This position plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the Village's water and wastewater systems to ensure reliable service for our community.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Installation, maintenance, repair of water and sewer lines
- Reading, repairing, and replacing water meters
- Assisting with lead repairs and emergency service calls
- Operating equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, and trenchers
- Performing inspections and routine maintenance on utility systems
- Responding to service requests and supporting public works projects
- Participating in on-call and after-hours emergency response as needed
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Experience in water or wastewater systems
- NM Water/Wastewater Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Equipment operation experience
