Part-Time Grant Writer

The Village of Tularosa is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Grant Writer to identify, research, and prepare grant applications to support municipal programs, capital projects, and community initiatives.

Position Summary:
The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and assisting with grant reporting and documentation. This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching federal, state, and private grant opportunities
  • Preparing and submitting grant applications and supporting documentation
  • Coordinating with department staff to gather project information and budgets
  • Assisting with post-award reporting and compliance requirements
  • Maintaining grant records, deadlines, and reporting schedules
  • Assisting with grant-related correspondence and audits as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in grant writing, research, or related administrative work
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Word, Excel, email)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience writing grants for municipalities or public entities
  • Knowledge of state and federal grant programs
  • Familiarity with budget preparation and reporting requirements

Compensation:
Pay is based on qualifications and experience.

School Resource Officer

Location: Tularosa Municipal Schools/Tularosa Police Department, Tularosa NM
Employment Type: Full-Time
Starting Pay: $30.00 per hour

Position Summary:
The Village of Tularosa along with the Tularosa Municipal Schools is seeking a dedicated and community-focused School Resource Officer (SRO) to join our team. The SRO will serve as a sworn law enforcement officer responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will build positive relationships with students and act as a trusted presence on campus, while also fulfilling public safety responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide security and law enforcement services on school property
  • Develop positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Prevent and respond to incidents of violence, theft, drug use, and other criminal activities
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and local law enforcement agencies
  • Support school administrators in emergency preparedness planning
  • Deliver safety presentations and support educational programs as needed
  • Reports to Tularosa Police Department Chief of Police
  • Provide traffic control at all school crossings
  • Will serve as a certified law enforcement officer and provide law enforcement services to the Village of Tularosa when school is out of session

Qualifications:

  • Certified law enforcement officer in the State of New Mexico
  • Minimum of 2 years of law enforcement experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with the youth in an educational setting
  • Background check and clearance required
  • Will be required to attend the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) Training and any other training pertinent to the duties of a School Resource Officer and any other required Law Enforcement certifications
